Intro/Goal:

Our aim is to create an AI-powered tool that can accurately recognize human emotions through analyzing facial expressions. This involves using advanced deep learning techniques, recognizing human emotions through facial expressions, showcases remarkable potential across various sectors, including healthcare, security, and customer experience.

Challenges:

  • The project involves refining current AI technologies, including YOLOv5, ResNet50, VGG16, AlexNet, and MobileNet, to improve facial detection and emotion categorization. Additionally, we are tasked with constructing a system that processes data in real-time. Another significant aspect is ensuring we have high-quality and accessible data for training our models.

Solution:

We have developed an AI system that offers solutions in various fields:    

  • Security: It enhances monitoring systems to identify signs of distress or  unusual behavior.    
  • Healthcare: It provides innovative methods for tracking patients' mental  states by observing emotional indicators.    
  • Customer Experience: It adjusts digital interactions instantly according to  the user's current feelings.

My Role:

I played a key role in the project by focusing on training the algorithm with the VGG16 and AlexNet models. This process was crucial for the accuracy of emotion detection.

Results:

  • Our  solution is now implemented and available for various uses, as outlined  above. It signifies a step forward in leveraging AI for understanding and  responding to human emotions across different scenarios. The experience  gained from this project has been invaluable, especially in appreciating the  resources needed to create a comprehensive AI-based application from start to  finish.
