Application to enhance Farm Productivity and Community Engagement

Industry: Agriculture

Intro/Goal:

The primary goal was to enhance the connectivity and support for over 10,000 milk producers who were often located in remote areas with limited internet access. The objective was to get closer to these producers, assist in their processes, and offer products and services that were tailored to their specific needs and realities.

Challenges:

  • The producers were located on their farms, many without internet access, making communication complex.
  • There was limited information available about the producers, complicating efforts to understand and meet their needs effectively.

Solution:

An  application was designed with two basic components: as an informative medium  and as a functional tool. This application included sections that kept the  producers informed about the company's activities, the latest trends in milk  and meat production, and allowed them to understand the parameters evaluated  in their weekly settlements. It also featured sections for downloading  certificates and simulating production behavior based on various factors such  as climate, input costs, and consumer demand.

My Role:

As the  Product Owner, I was responsible for accurately gathering the requirements  and ensuring that the development met the producers' expectations. My duties  also included communicating with and listening to feedback and observations  from stakeholders to guide the project's direction and adjustments.

Results:

The  project was rolled out in phases and, within a year, over 5,000 associates  had the application installed on their cell phones and were actively using  it. The project was deemed a high-impact initiative, successfully developed  within the expected timeframes and with the anticipated quality.
